NEO Standout: Luke Chicone

Luke Chicone (Ridge Middle/Mentor, Ohio) 5'1 PG 2021 - Luke is a kid that is never going to pass the eye test. He is small in size but what he lacks in size he doubles in his basketball IQ and skillset. He handled the ball extremely well while keeping his dribble low and tight. He also used a change of pace to keep his defenders exactly where he wanted them. However, when needed, he used a series of crossovers and combinations that made the crowd jump on their feet over and over again. When seeing an opening or opportunity he seemed to get into the paint whenever he deemed necessary. You don't find too many kids his size that can finish around the basket with either hand the way Luke showed us he can finish. On the defensive end, Luke did a good job of playing tough on-ball defense and competed at a high energy level.
