                                       2017 National Top 20 5th Grade Evaluations

#117 - John Mobley shows why he’s the top guard in the county. His basketball game is beyond mature. He has an amazing dribbling ability. His scoring ability is a thrill to watch. It seemed like when a great defender was on him, his game expanded and he rose to another level. Also, he has range to pull from beyond the high school 3pt line.

#99- Gregory Brooks was a solid guard in this showcase. He has  great dribbling ability and is able to get to the basket. He is a knock -down, three- point shooter, He is so great on the defensive end of the floor. Plus,he is a great passer and has a New York style of play.

#130 Amaree Pickens is a very active wing player, with game similar to  NBA player Lamar Odom. He was able to push the ball in transition and finds his teammates, He is a great rebounder. He is great at finishing around the basket.

#144 Jarrett Taylor uses his length very well, He shows why is is a top rebounder in his grade. He grabbed almost every rebound. He’s also a solid defender. Great motor to keep running up and down also very active.

#145 Brandon Liepins is a hardworking kid who loves to rebound. His shot is pure from mid range and can shoot the 3pt shot consistently He is noticeably strong and has game similar to that of NBA player Kevin Love. He has great court vision, grabs rebounds, and always finds the outlet pass.

Jyles Brandon is easily one of the top guards in this grade. His game is very polished and mature. He has the ability to shoot the ball from deep. Very good in getting to the basket and finishing the bucket. His vision was really impressive.

# 101 Logan Davis has a very high IQ. He’s a very quick guard. He is active on the defensive end. He is a knockdown shooter from anywhere. He has great vision and a great handle of the basketball.

#185 Dominic Scott has a high motor and is very active on defense. He is a vocal leader and directs other players. He also has a great dribbling package. He shoots the mid range shot very well.

# 114- Isaiah Brenneman has a very soft and polished mid range shot. Also has a great ability to rebound and put the shot back up. Also for a big man he’s able to dribble the ball.

#265 - Micah Tucker has a great skill set. He can shoot the ball from deep beyond the 3pt line, He’s outstanding in finishing layups with either hand and has a very high motor

#198- Bennett Meyers came to compete this weekend. He showed a very mature basketball IQ especially for a 5th grader. He seemed very comfortable dribbling, passing, and shooting with his head up, I can see him running a team as a future point guard. I would encourage him to continue working in his game especially versus more athletic defenders.

#98 Demarr Foster by far was one of the best defenders at the camp this weekend. He used his small frame to his advantage with absolutely no fear. Super fast and athletic, however I would have liked to see him go left more... but if the defense can’t make you do it- why would you right? Ball handling and penetration game was on point. So, as he goes up to the the next level he will have to show that jump shot and left hand drive against better competition.

#315 Tarik Watson is a player that the game seems to come easy to him. He played tall and was active offensively and defensively. I would like to see him get stronger, play lower, and play on the balls of his feet more. Outside of that, Tarik Watson was one of the best rebounders, shot blockers, and post players. Either he was playing hurt or playing with heart. He could play on my team any day!

#124- Javen Tank is super cool, calm, and quick! I really thought he had a smooth offensive game. He could have looked to shoot it more because he has such good vision. His ability to dribble confidently with his head up is unmatched. He could have been more aggressive and commanded the ball as a floor general. Keep working on your game -it will be fire!

#363- Xavier Brown has a great basketball body. One of the best hustlers who played consistent defense. If you need a rebound, steal, or block, Xavier is your man! High energy player as he can create a fast break by himself because of his defensive attention to detail.

#288 J’Anthony Grimes is another good and solid energy player. Seems to love playing defense and who doesn't need players like that? I would love to see him get more engaged offensively. There is nothing wrong with looking for your shot every now and then. Solid rebounder and can set a mean screen to get his teammates open.

#182- Maverick Binder was an honor to watch. Maverick was a triple threat because he was able  to make clean decisions and the right plays. He could dribble, pass and shoot really well. He is great at not rushing plays and playing a his own speed and pace.

#258 Mikkel Tyne seemed like he averaged 25-30 points per game. Along with 15 rebounds and 7 assists, 3 blocks, 2 steals, and 5 and 1’s per game. He was the most all-around player in the 5th grade. If you needed any stats, Mikkel Tyne had it for you already. Top 2 players in this 5th grade class by far! Would have liked to see his left hand-drive more but no one was stopping him, too strong and fast. Should have been playing with the 6th graders maybe even 7th. Tough strong, had high energy too!

#193 Anthony Januzzi was one of the best shooters and finishers in the 5th grade class. Anthony played solid defense too. Great attitude on both ends of the floor, He had a good awareness for leaking our on fast breaks for easy layups . Time after time Anthony seemed to bail his team out with a “right-on- time scoring. Plays with heart and hustle.

#186 Mikey Johnson is a very solid athlete who wasn't afraid to play defense on the other team's best player. Seemed kind of longer than his height. Scrappy defender-I like that! Could break down his man offensively pretty much whenever he wanted and was aggressive and very confident feel for the game. If he was open Mikey was making that shot , nice touch and showed solid offensive scoring ability when opportunities presented itself one of the more versatile players in the 5th grade. He a winner in my eyes you need players like Mikey Johnson.
