7th GRADE all stARS
7th Top 20 all stars not pictured: James Turner, Blair Scott
TOP 20 7TH GRADERS
#357-PEYTON KEMP- BY FAR THE BEST ALL-AROUND PLAYER IN THE 7TH GRADE THIS WEEKEND. PEYTON CAN DO EVERYTHING FROM PASSING, SCORING, DEFENDING, AND REBOUNDING AT A GUARD POSITION. WHAT STANDS OUT THE MOST ABOUT KEMP IS HIS COURT VISION TO GET OTHERS INVOLVED WHILE DOING IT WITH SWAG. TOP 3 IN THE 7TH GRADE CLASS BY FAR WHILE BEING ONE OF THE BEST IN THE NATION. NEED NOT TO SAY MORE!!!!
#100-SCOOP SMITH- THE MOST EXPLOSIVE GUARD OFF THE DRIBBLE I’VE SEEN IN AWHILE. SCOOP IS A RUNNING BACK ON THE BASKETBALL COURT WITH EXCEPTIONAL SKILLS WITH THE BASKETBALL. THE MOST IMPRESSIVE THING THAT STANDS OUT WITH SCOOP IS HIS TENACIOUS DEFENSE. EVERYONE HE GUARDED GOT A TASTE OF THAT LOCKDOWN D. ONE OF THE BEST FINISHERS IN THE 7TH GRADE DESPITE NOT BEING BIG BUT MAKES IT UP WITH PURE STRENGTH AND ABILITY. DEFINITELY TOP 5 IN THE 7TH GRADE AND TOP IN THE COUNTRY.
#505-BRAYDEN FOGLE- LONG, ATHLETIC BIG WITH HANDLES THAT PLAYS ABOVE THE RIM. AS GOOD AS BRAYDEN IS RIGHT NOW, HE’S ONLY GONNA GET BETTER CAUSE HE HAS A MOTOR THAT DOESN’T STOP. FOGLE’S DEFENSE IS VERY UNDERRATED WHICH HELPS HIM GET INTO TRANSITION TO DO WHAT HE DO BEST. REBOUNDING, DEFENSE, AND RUNNING THE FLOOR ARE BRAYDEN’S STRONG SUIT. ONCE THAT JUMPER BECOMES CONSISTENT, LOOK OUT BASKETBALL WORLD CAUSE FOGLE WILL BE SCARY.
#482-LANDON KRUGER- THE BIGGEST SURPRISE AT THE SHOWCASE THIS WEEKEND. KRUGER CAME OUT OF NOWHERE HITTING 3’S, WINDMILL DUNKING, AND SHOWING SURPRISINGLY GOOD HANDLES. KRUGER DEFENDS, REBOUNDS, AND IS NOT AFRAID TO MIX IT UP WITH THE BEST IN HIS CLASS. RUNS THE FLOOR EXCEPTIONALLY WELL, ALONG WITH FINISHING WITH AGGRESSION. KRUGER HAS A CHANCE TO BE SOMETHING SPECIAL.
#504-JONATHAN SANDERSON- READY, SET, GO…… DESCRIBES JONATHAN BEST BECAUSE HE DOESN’T STOP PLAYING UNTIL THE WHISTLE BLOWS. THE ENERGIZER BUNNY HAS GOOD HANDLES WITH VERY GOOD EXPLOSION THAT HELPS WITH HIS ABILITY TO FINISH AT THE RIM. JONATHAN HAS A GOOD STROKE THAT HELPS HIM CREATE SPACE TO TAKE PEOPLE OFF THE DRIBBLE. THE BEST THING ABOUT SANDERSON IS HE WILL DEFEND ANYONE NO MATTER THE NAME. SKIES THE LIMIT.
#339-BLAIR SCOTT- SAVVY GUARD WITH EXCELLENT COURT VISION. BLAIR HAS VERY GOOD HANDLES THAT HELPS HIM GET TO ANY SPOT ON THE COURT HE WANTS TO CREATE FOR HIMSELF OR OTHERS. FINISHES WITH EITHER HAND AT THE RIM AS WELL AS PULL UP JUMP SHOT. BLAIR DEFENDS AT A HIGH LEVEL AND IS NOT AFRAID OF ANYONE TO GUARD. GREAT HANDS AND FEET WHICH MAKES BLAIR A HARD DEFENDER TO GET AROUND.
#47- SEAN PARKS- PROBABLY THE MOST ATHLETIC WING HERE ON THE WEEKEND. SEAN IS A BLUR GOING UP AND DOWN THE COURT WITH AN AMAZING ABILITY TO FINISH AT THE RIM. SEAN CAN DO IT ALL BY DEFENDING, REBOUNDING, BLOCKING SHOTS, AND SHOOTING. THE BEST TRANSITION PLAYER WITH EXPLOSION IN THE 7TH GRADE CLASS. SEAN WILL FLY UNDER THE RADAR BUT BEST BELIEVE WE WILL BE TALKING ABOUT HIM LATER DOWN THE ROAD.
#235-LATRELL KELLY- DIMES KELLY IS HIS NAME AND PASSING IS HIS GAME. LATRELL MAKES EVERYONE AROUND HIM BETTER ON HIS TEAM AND THAT’S RARE TO SEE AT A SHOWCASE. THE MOST UNSELFISH PLAYER AT THE SHOWCASE THIS WEEKEND. LATRELL HAS GOOD HANDLES WHICH HELPS HIM GET TO THE PAINT AND CREATE FOR HIMSELF AND OTHERS. DON’T GET IT TWISTED CAUSE LATRELL CAN SCORE THE BALL OUTSIDE OF PASSING AS WELL. THE COURT VISION AND BASKETBALL IQ LATRELL HAS IS SECOND TO NONE AND THAT WILL TAKE HIM FAR IN THIS GAME.
#554-ZYMIR KNOX- ZYMIR DOESN’T QUITE KNOW HOW GOOD HE CAN BE. BY FAR THE BEST ATHLETIC BIG IN THE 7TH GRADE CLASS THIS WEEKEND. KNOX GETS UP AND DOWN THE FLOOR LIKE A GAZELLE IN THE WOODS. THE ABILITY TO FINISH AT THE RIM WITH BOTH HANDS SEPARATES ZYMIR FROM ALL THE BIGS ON THE WEEKEND. A VERY GOOD MID RANGE JUMPER IS IN THE BAG FOR THE SMOOTH BIG AS WELL AS HIS DEFENSE AND REBOUNDING ABILITY. ZYMIR IS VERY QUIET AND HUMBLE BUT WILL MAKE A LOT OF NOISE IN THE FUTURE.
#169-Joe Gaffney -displayed an exceptional set of shooting skills as well as court vision. Joe knows to set up his teammates up when needed and when to attack the basket when needed. Gaffney’s ability to attack the basket and finish with either hand at the rim made it very difficult for defenders to keep him in front of them. Joe’s ability to attack, set up his strongest asset which was shooting from the outside. By far one of the top shooters in the 7th grade division this weekend.
#394-Josiah Johnson -Can do it all from handles, driving to the hole, finishing strongly with either hand, and passes the ball with exceptional vision. Can get to the rim whenever he wants with a great ability to change directions to get to the paint to finish, which is Josiah’s strong suit. Josiah can create his own shot off the dribble with ease but his passing is what was the most impressive along with some stout defense. Can rebound the ball and start the break himself and finish with the best. Definitely one of the Top 5 – 7th graders on the weekend.
#477-James Turner -was a big that could do it all on both ends of the floor. James was displaying all of his skills this weekend from scoring, passing, defending, dribbling, and IQ. He was a rebounding machine who finishes well around the rim with a lot of physicality. Turner, at times, showed guard skills in a big man’s body. James really showed why he is one of the best big men in the 7th grade division this weekend.
#228-Javance Turner -Javance is a very strong guard that can get to the bucket pretty much whenever he wants. A good finisher at the rim and can create well for others. Javance is what I call the Charles Barkley of 7th graders cause he’s a load when in attack mode. He displayed a great set of ball handling skills for a big guard as well as an elite shot. His combo ability will only get better as he gets older, bigger, and stronger. Look for Turner to be a problem come High School in a few years.
#146-Ayden Larra -an elite defender that is scrappy and tough on the defensive end of the floor. Not the biggest person on the court to defend people but that doesn’t stop him from taking on any challenge to lock someone up. Ayden was simply everywhere the ball was this weekend and seldom missed a mid range shot or layup. Very unselfish by creating for others to get them shots but also got his own shots. Easily one of the top defenders along with pure hustle this weekend, but his overall play got him in the Top 20 of the 7th grade division.
#172-Bryce Seward - displayed a ton of great ball handling and finishing skill at the rim. Bryce was very explosive attacking the basket while finishing in traffic. He was very unselfish and played both ends of the floor. Seward showed why he was one of the top guards in the 7th grade division often and early with his play from the very first game. A big key thing Bryce showed was his court vision and control of the game. Sky is the limit for Bryce and we look forward to seeing him in the future.
#497- Antwain (AJ) Johnson -Plays both ends of the floor at a high level. it didn’t matter the player, A.J. was willing to guard them the whole game. A.J. created well for others and didn’t mind sharing the ball to get buckets. Very impressed how he handled the ball with his weak hand to get himself into the paint to finish or make plays at the rim. Would love to see Antwain be more aggressive to score in the midrange area because he could do it at a high clip when he sets his mind to do it. A.J. hasn’t come near scratching the surface of how good he can be and the 7th grade division is on notice because of his play this weekend.
#240-Kyree Mckelton -I think Kyree is still running up and down the court and it’s not a game going on. Tazmania Devil is what he reminds me of when I watch Kyree play. Even with being non-stop up and down the floor, he is very fundamental with a high IQ of the game. Jab steps, shot fakes, pivot foot, handles with either hand, is such a rarity to see these days. What separated Kyree from the rest is he picked up everyone all weekend from rim to rim to defend them. That alone, with his exceptional offensive skill set, put him in the top 20.
#514-Russell Young -the X factor!!!! Russell owned the paint as well as the perimeter this weekend. By far the most under the radar player this weekend was Russell Young. What all can I say about “Big Baby” because he literally can do it all from handling the rock, rebounding, passing, defending, but most impressive, was his jump shot. Russell’s range was when he walked in the gym. It was a consistent long range fireworks show this weekend but that’s not the kicker, Russell can get to the rim just as good as any guard in the 7th grade division this weekend despite being a big man. Russell put all Forwards on notice this weekend and will not be surprised when his name comes up in the near future as a top player in the country if he keeps working.
#1 -Romelo Hill -Talk about extreme confidence in his ability, Romelo defines confidence and toughness. Exceptional ball handler with a knack for change of direction that allows him to get in the paint and finish with many different angles. It’s Romelo ability to stroke the outside jumper to help set up his favorite floater that he continued to hit this weekend when in the paint. Romelo never backs down from defending anyone despite his small stature which shows you he has a heart of a lion. As Hill continues to get bigger, stronger, and faster in years to come, his game will surpass the few that’s ahead of him right now. Watch out 7th grade division cause Romelo is lurking………
#140-Cortez Porter -is a lockdown defender with a great basketball IQ. Cortez has great court vision and attacks the rim very well while finishing with either hand. The best ability Cortez showed was that toughness on the defensive end of the floor by making it very difficult for his opponent to score the basketball. His defense alone put him in the top tier of defenders in the 7th grade and there were quite a few. What went under the radar this weekend for Cortez, was his ability to make play after play on the offensive end. He was the Silent Assassin this weekend but made a lot of noise. Cortez is just getting started folks!!!!
